Architecture in Penang (Georgetown)

Georgetown is a UNESCO World Heritage site, but received the title together with Melaka in Malaysia. Having seen both places, I can’t decide which one is more picturesque or interesting, so I suggest you should also visit both towns.

Georgetown is a huge city, the second largest in Malaysia, but you won’t feel that if you stay in the city centre only (which is unlikely, given the fact that many sights in Penang are outside of inner Georgetown). The historical centre is easily walkable, and everywhere you go, you will find beautiful houses. Some of these houses are used as hotels or guesthouses, so you can even choose to live in one of them. I did, in Lorong Ceylon, and it was interesting and comfortable.

Below, I will share the pics of some of my favourite houses in Georgetown. If you want to find them, you should simply walk around the city centre as much as you possibly can – that’s what most visitors do anyay. And if you recognize some shown here, don’t hesitate to comment below.
